Truckers, Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Return (Form 2290) Due Aug, 31.

  This is to remind truckers and other owners of heavy highway vehicles that, their next federal highway use tax return is due on Monday, August 31, 2020. Some taxpayers still opt to file their  Form 2290  on paper, the IRS encourages all taxpayers to take advantage of the speed and convenience of filing this 2290 tax form electronically and paying tax dues  electronically . Taxpayers reporting 25 or more vehicles must e-file their Form 2290 through an  IRS-approved  software provider like  www.Tax2290.com . This year’s 2290 tax due date falls on August 31. Hence E-file ASAP to avoid last minute virtual Traffic jam. IRS stated in the recent Form 2290 webinar that they're working with the minimum staffing and taxpayers would see delays up to 6 weeks for a paper filed returns. However, The IRS E-file system will function and accept all returns within minutes that are filed electronically....

Truckers, owner operators and heavy haulers need to report vehicle use tax Form 2290 on vehicles put to use on public highways. IRS Form 2290 is used to report and pay Heavy Vehicle Use Tax , or HVUT. You must file Form 2290 with Schedule 1 annually if a taxable highway motor vehicle, in this case any heavy vehicle weighing 55,000 lbs or more, is registered in your name in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico. Form 2290 must be filed for the month the taxable vehicle is first used on public highways during the tax period. The current period begins July 1, and ends June 30, as stated above. Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the month following the month of first use. Note. If any due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, file by the next business day. If you first use multiple vehicles in more than one month, then a separate Form 2290 must be filed for each month by adding the VIN# of each reporting vehicle.
